Dr. George Ebong (MD)
President, ARD-FCTA (2024–Present) · Candidate, NMA FCT Chairman 2026
Biography
Dr. George Ebong was born 46 years ago in Ile-Ife, Osun State, at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex.
He attended Sijuwade Nursery & Primary School, Moremi High School, and the School of Science, all in Ile-Ife, before proceeding into medicine.
He is married to Chioma Ezuma-Ebong, a medical doctor, and the couple is blessed with two children.
A Fearless Voice for Doctors' Welfare
The Excos of 2024/2025, under the pro-welfare leadership of Dr. George Ebong, were sworn into office on the 14th of December 2024 during the Health Week Dinner and Award Night — a colourful event marking the start of a determined tenure.
Dr. Ebong vowed to prioritise doctors' welfare, lamenting that doctors in FCTA had become an endangered species, and that his Exco would work to resolve the challenges resident doctors face in the FCT.
"We are an endangered species, just as the American bald eagle, the Chinese panda bear, and the Russian Siberian tiger have become endangered."
Dr. Ebong's leadership style can be best described as fearless, firebrand, bold, and courageous — one that speaks truth to power. He has used the media as a weapon to fight for the welfare of members, with several media outings that received overwhelming commendation.
The 2024/2025 year was an eventful one for the Association, which experienced five industrial actions, the last of which was called by NARD on the 1st of November 2025. These strikes were the final recourse employed by the George Ebong Exco to secure numerous outstanding welfare demands of members — nothing from management was achieved without them.

The Health Week 2025 also had an impactful community medical outreach to the Zhigakuchi community at Maitama II District, Abuja, attending to children, adults, and the elderly. They received sugar tests, BP checks, consultation (medical/dental/eye), diagnosis, and treatment.
A Mandate Renewed
As the saying goes, "the reward for good work is more work." Based on his exceptional performance in his first tenure, Dr. George Ebong was returned elected for a second term to continue piloting the affairs of ARD-FCTA under his Welfare Mantra. He was sworn in for a second tenure on the 13th of December 2025, at the 2025 Dinner & Award Night, which also marked the Association's 30th anniversary celebration.
